A Brief Summary
House of Stitches started small, carrying only one kind of floss and three counts of fabric. We now carry fibers from more than a dozen different companies and fabrics from 6ct to 40ct. We specialize in bringing you the latest in counted cross stitch, from basics to hard to find supplies!
Prologue to a New Chapter
House of Stitches Opens in 1982
A storefront was opened in LaPorte, IN. It initially only carried one kind of floss and three counts of fabric.
A Website is Launched in 2000
As more interest continued to grow, House of Stitches joined the online community with a catalog over 10,000 items. They quickly became known for their ability to locate hard to find items and enthusiasm for fulfilling special orders worldwide.
Change of Ownership in 2023
House of Stitches is now owned by Sarah Baumann, a passionate cross stitcher and long time supporter. Although it may have a fresh re-branded look, the legacy of House of Stitches’ excellent customer service and wide variety of cross stitch supplies remains the same.
As the new owner of House of Stitches, Sarah is a seasoned needlework enthusiast with a passion that dates back to her early teens. Originally from Illinois, she spent 19 years in Chicago with a career in IT. After a move to Indiana and a challenging period during the pandemic, she decided to pivot her career and take the reins at House of Stitches, her cherished local needlework shop. Outside of the stitching world, she shares a love for hiking and travel with her husband, indulges in beading, and enjoys the company of their delightful clowder of cats.
